FUNDRAISER 2009-2010
We have an exciting fundraiser this year. Enclosed in your membership packet are twenty raffle tickets. This is a new fundraiser for MHSRA this season. We are raffling as a first prize a 3 horse slant living quarters horse trailer, and second prize a $1000 gas card. The winning tickets will be drawn during the State Finals 2010 in Bozeman next June. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go the general MHSRA fund to help ease the financial strain to our members.
To follow are the requirements for the raffle ticket sales as designated by the MHSRA Board of Directors:
1. Each MHSRA high school division member is required to sell at a minimum twenty (20) raffle tickets this rodeo season. Each MHSRA Wrangler junior high school division member is required to sell at a minimum ten (10) raffle tickets this rodeo season.
2. Each MHSRA member must sell his/her twenty raffle tickets in order to be eligible to enter their District competition and State competition 2010.
3. The deadline for turning in raffle tickets to their district secretary is May 17, 2010 (eligibility date for district entries).
Please ask your State Director if you have any questions or refer to the NHSRA Rule under Contestant Qualifications on page 29 of the 2008-2010 rule book #9 that states:
"A State/Province Association may impose requirements on its student members as deemed necessary by the State/Province Board of Directors, to
aid in fundraisers and other projects for the purpose of financial assistance to said State/Province."
Please follow these instructions when selling your raffle tickets:
1. Ticket prices are $10 each or 6 for $50.
2. Write the purchaser’s name, address, city and phone number on the front of the raffle ticket.
3. Tear off and give the ticket stub with the sponsor information to the purchaser of the ticket.
4. Retain the ticket with the purchaser’s information and write your name on the back of this portion of the stub.
5. After you have sold all of your raffle tickets, submit your payment (do not send cash) along with the ticket stubs to your district secretary (see Meet the Directors page for District secretary mailing addresses). The deadline to submit your tickets is May 17, 2010. The tickets and payment must be received by the district secretary on or before this date (postmarked this date or later is too late and will not be accepted). No late tickets will be accepted. No Exceptions. Do not send tickets to the State Office, send them to your district secretary only.
Additional tickets are available by contacting your state directors or district secretaries.
Here is the other exciting part of this fundraiser, members selling the most tickets will also receive prizes. The member selling the most raffle tickets for the year will receive a custom saddle. The member selling the second most tickets will receive a $750 scholarship, the third place member will receive a $500 scholarship, and the fourth place member will receive a $250 scholarship. These scholarships may be used for college tuition or rodeo related activities such as rodeo clinic fees. Please feel free to ask one of your State Directors if you have any questions about the raffle or the prizes being offered. Please also contact your state directors if you need help selling your raffle tickets as they may offer advice as to locations in your area for sales opportunities.
These are very exciting prizes and this is an outstanding opportunity for MHSRA members. This fundraiser has huge potential. Let’s get out there and promote MHSRA as well as the great sport of rodeo. Good Luck!
MHSRA 2009 - 2010 Membership Applications
Important Membership Information
2009-2010 Membership Dues: The original membership application mailed to you in mid July is incorrect. The membership dues and fees total should have been $135. MHSRA members do not pay the $25 NHSRA Times Subscription (Foreign). This fee applies to Canadian members.
On July 28, 2009, the MHSRA State Office received an email from the NHSRA office stating this season’s NHSRA Dues is being raised $9, making the NHSRA Dues portion of the fees $33. This means that the TOTAL Membership Dues and Fees for the MHRSA 2009-2010 season is $144.00. The membership application will soon be updated on the Membership Information page on this website. If you mailed in the original incorrect amount of $160 you will receive a refund. Sincerely,
Heidi Picchietti
MHSRA State Secretary

MHSRA Rodeo Entries - In 2006 the Board of Directors passed a new rule that we would only have PHONE ENTRIES. (NO MAIL OR FAX WILL BE ACCEPTED.) Note on each rodeo listing the date and time for the entries to be taken. ALL PHONE CALLS are recorded.
Call Backs - Call backs are on Thursday after entry for a rodeo (10am - 8:30pm). At call back, you may draw out of that rodeo or confirm your entry. If you drive to a rodeo and are not listed on the program, the local secretary will confirm with your call back number and you will be allowed to rodeo. If you did not call back for that rodeo and are not listed in the program, you will not participate (your error or central entry error). Entries and call backs are recorded. Call Backs are not mandatory but they are your insurance for your entry.
